Local Pulse: Gibson County Clear-Out, Tires and Fall HHW

Gibson County is the gap most Tri-State clear-out roundups leave open. Three county disposal windows land in the next five weeks — free tires on Sep 19, household hazardous waste and electronics on Oct 17, and a drug take-back on Oct 24 — and Evansville’s free heavy-trash pickup goes on hold once leaf crews take the trucks in November.

The short version

If you live north of Evansville — Haubstadt, Princeton, Fort Branch, Oakland City — start a garage shelf now. Stack tires for Sep 19. Set aside paint, chemicals, old medications, and dead TVs for Oct 17. If you are an Evansville city utility customer and something bulky is leaving this fall, schedule the pickup in September or October rather than waiting.

Sat, Sep 19 — Gibson County Tire Amnesty (free)

The 3rd Annual Gibson County Tire Amnesty Day runs 7am–3pm at the Large Trash & Compost Yard in Princeton. Free for Gibson County residents only, up to 10 tires per resident — lawnmower through tractor, rims OK.

This is a different window than Evansville’s Oct 31 tire day, so north-county piles do not have to wait six more weeks.

Sat, Oct 17 — Gibson County Fall Household Hazardous Waste and e-waste

Gibson County’s Fall Household Hazardous Waste Day (Toyota partner) runs 8am–noon at the Toyota Family Medical Center in Princeton. Gibson County residents only — no businesses.

Accepted: medications, sharps, batteries, paint, oils and grease, household chemicals and pesticides, adhesives and sealers, fluorescent bulbs, electronics, TVs (limit 3), residential propane tanks, and regular recyclables.

Note the date collision: Henderson County’s Household Waste Day falls on the same Saturday. Different county, different site — go to the one you live in.

Sat, Oct 24 — DEA Take Back Day

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day runs 10am–2pm. Local Tri-State drop sites usually post closer to the date, so watch police department and pharmacy listings. Evansville’s Tox-Away day on Oct 31 also accepts non-controlled pharmaceuticals.

Book Evansville heavy trash before leaf season

City of Evansville utility customers can schedule free heavy trash as often as every two weeks — except during fall leaf collection, November through mid-December, when those pickups pause. If a mattress, couch, or appliance is leaving this fall, book it while the trucks are still available.

Town of Haubstadt Dump Day ran Sat, Sep 12, 7–11:30am at the Old Gym — an annual town bulk clear-out for Haubstadt-area homeowners. Worth putting on next year’s calendar. The Chamber calendar carries the live listing; an accepted-items sheet is not posted publicly.
