Fall pumpkins market

Fall festival season is in full swing across the Tri-State. Here’s a short homeowner skim for the next couple of weeks — traffic timing, yard and décor cues, and a few markets worth a look.

This weekend — Owensboro

Owensboro Air Show (Sep 11–13) brings riverfront crowds and bridge closures (Fri 10am–4pm, Sat 7am–5pm, Sun 12–5pm). If you’ve got errands, deliveries, or outdoor projects planned, build around those windows.

This weekend — Mount Vernon, IN

Mt. Vernon River Days (Sep 11–12) fills downtown and the riverfront with vendors, a parade, and fireworks. Expect tighter parking and slower downtown traffic through Saturday. (This is Mount Vernon in Posey County, Indiana — not Mount Vernon, Illinois.)

Sep 19–20 — Owensboro & New Harmony

Two strong fall-prep weekends: Preservation Station Fall Market (Hwy 56 area) for décor and holiday-ahead shopping, and Kunstfest in New Harmony (Sat–Sun 9am–4pm) with a big crafts and handmade-goods lineup — an easy soft cue if you’re refreshing porches or interiors for fall.

Sep 18–20 — Evansville park note

Woodland Wonders at Wesselman Woods runs Saturday afternoon (Sep 19). The preserve is closed to the public Fri–Sun Sep 18–20 for setup, event, and cleanup — handy if you usually walk or bike there.

Newburgh soft note

Gather for Good (Sat Sep 19, Water Street) raises funds that support Newburgh Neighbors grants for residential homeowners inside town limits — a rare local event with a direct homeowner tie.

Late Sep — Mount Vernon IL + Evansville yard & décor

– Mt. Vernon Fall Fest (Illinois), Sep 25–26 — downtown vendors, Saturday parade (~1pm), Cruise-In; plan around downtown traffic if you’re on that side of the river.

– SWN Fall Fest, Sat Sep 26 — mums, pumpkins, and garden-center fall shopping on Millersburg Rd.

– Vanderburgh Homemakers Fine Arts & Crafts Show, Sep 26–27 — furniture, florals, and handmade décor at the 4-H Center.

Soft seasonal cue

Leaf pickup isn’t open yet in most of our cities (Owensboro’s street leaf service typically resumes mid–late October; Evansville’s fall leaf program usually runs late October into December). Now’s a quieter stretch for yard tidy-ups and a heating check before the first cold snap — then look up your city’s leaf and brush page when October hits.
